As cats, we were intrigued by the colorful buildings and cat-friendly alleys. It was the purrfect place to wander.
The street vendors meowed at us but didn't mind our paws on their goods. We'll definitely come back for the fish market!

Mindful meoweler tips
The Fiestas de San Juan Bautista
Every year in June, Villa de Cura celebrates the patron saint with several days of processions, music, and traditional food. Don't miss the famous 'toro guapo' (handsome bull) parade!
The Tostones Challenge
In many restaurants, you'll find 'tostones', a popular snack made of twice-fried plantains. Try ordering a whole plate and see how many you can eat! The record is 25 tostones!
The Catatumbo Lightning
Although not in Villa de Cura, this natural phenomenon is visible from the region. The lightning storms over Lake Maracaibo are so frequent and bright that they can be used for navigation!
